Asthma & Allergy.
ASTHMA & ALLERGY ARE CHRONIC CONDITIONS WHERE THE IMMUNE SYSTEM OVERREACTS PRODUCING ALLERGIC REACTIONS, INCLUDING INFLAMMATION OF THE AIRWAYS IN THE CASE OF ASTHMA.
Asthma symptoms, which include coughing, wheezing, and chest tightness, are common in an asthma attack. Sometimes asthma is called bronchial asthma or reactive airway disease. Asthma can be controlled with proper treatment.

Conditions
Asthma is characterized by inflammation of the bronchial tubes with increased production of sticky secretions inside the tubes. People with asthma experience symptoms when the airways tighten, inflame, or fill with mucus. Common asthma symptoms include:

-
Coughing, especially at night
-
Wheezing
-
Shortness of breath
-
Chest tightness, pain, or pressure
Some people with asthma may go for extended periods without having any symptoms, interrupted by periodic worsening of their symptoms called asthma attacks. Others might have asthma symptoms every day. In addition, some people may only have asthma during exercise, or asthma with viral infections like colds.
Mild asthma attacks are generally more common. Usually, the airways open up within a few minutes to a few hours. Severe attacks are less common but last longer and require immediate medical help. It is important to recognize and treat even mild asthma symptoms to help you prevent severe episodes and keep asthma under better control.

Medications
XOLAIR is used to treat moderate to severe asthma in adults and children over 12 years of age. It works by blocking your immune system's natural response to allergic triggers that can lead to an acute asthma. This effect on your immune system helps keep your air passages open and, over time, it keeps your asthma in better control.
More Information
Sometimes a virus or bacterial infection is an asthma trigger. These infections can be triggered by seasonal allergies as well. Allergy symptoms include itchy eyes and skin, sneezing, nasal congestion, wheezing, and rash. Seasonal allergies result from grass, weeds, tree pollen, or molds. Cat and dog dander allergies are common. Food allergies include peanuts or milk.
